CAIR Has Feelings hurt by Texas sheriff warning of Islamic jihadists

After the Manchester terror attack in which 22 people were killed and 59 injured, a Texas sheriff urged the citizens under his watch to “pay attention” to what is happening in Europe, because the ideology behind the threat to the continent is active in the United States as well.

While many citizens of Denton County, north of Dallas, expressed appreciation for the warning by Sheriff Tracy Murphree, an Islamic group that regards itself as “moderate,” casting its role in the U.S. as a defender of the civil rights of Muslims, expressed outrage, noted author Robert Spencer on his Jihad Watch blog.

The Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations issued a statement calling on Murphree “to reaffirm his pledge, and that of his officers, to serve and protect all Denton County residents regardless of their faith, ethnicity or national origin.”

“We are concerned that someone obligated to provide equal justice for all holds such inaccurate, stereotypical and divisive views,” said CAIR-DFW Civil Rights Director Nikiya Natale.

CAIR, regarded by the FBI as a front group for Hamas, was named by the Justice Department as an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas-funding case and desginated by a Gulf Arab state as a terrorist organization.

Murphree posted his exhortation on Facebook Monday night.

“Pay attention to what you see in Manchester England tonight. Pay attention to what is happening in Europe. This is what happens when you disarm your citizens. When you open your borders without the proper vetting,” he wrote.

The sheriff warned against allowing “political correctness to dictate how you respond to an enemy that wants to kill you.”

He said the left “tells us we must submit and accept these radical beliefs and bend over backwards to make sure we don’t hurt anybody’s feelings.”

“Folks this is an enemy hell bent on killing you. Committed to forcing you to convert or die. This enemy will strap bombs to their own body and blow themselves up killing children. I’m sick of it. You better wake up America. While you are distracted by the media and the crying of the left, Islamic Jihadist are among us and want to kill you,” Murphree wrote.

“What will it take? This happening at a concert in Dallas or a school in Denton County? If we don’t do something quick this country will die of political correctness and the fear that someone’s feelings may be hurt. It may very well be too late for Europe.”

Murphree told the local NBC affiliate he stands behind his Facebook post.

“We need to be realistic about the world we live in,” he said.

Jihad Watch director Robert Spencer commented that CAIR’s response “is extremely odd, since ostensibly CAIR is a ‘moderate’ group that rejects all the acts committed by Muslims that Murphree enumerates as ‘extremism’ stemming from a ‘hijacking’ of the Islamic faith.”

“Isn’t Hamas-linked CAIR against saying ‘convert or die’ to infidels, and treating women as property, and killing gays and women and Christians with impunity? Apparently not,” said Spencer.

According to evidence entered in the Hamas terror-financing case, CAIR was founded by figures associated with Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, the worldwide movement that has stated its intent to transform the U.S. into an Islamic state. The Justice Department later designated CAIR as an unindicted co-conspirator in the case. More than a dozen CAIR leaders have been charged or convicted of terrorism-related crimes.

An FBI chart obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request shows connections between CAIR and Hamas.

ISRAEL CONDUCTS ‘EXPERIMENTAL’ ROCKET TEST OVER HEART OF THE COUNTRY

The Israel Defense Ministry said Monday that it conducted a successful experimental test of its rocket propulsion system from a military base located in the center of Israel.

Images shared on social media showed a projectile streaking through the sky.

Israel has a multi-layered aerial defense system, which includes the Iron Dome, Arrow and David’s Sling, and missile system tests such as these are not uncommon. Rocket propulsion systems are designed to launch large systems such as satellites, ballistic missiles and large ground to air missiles.

The launching, conducted in the early morning hours, was planned in advance and carried out as planned. There was no comment on whether or not the test was successful nor what system was tested but some speculated that it may be the surface-to-surface Jericho 3, an intercontinental ballistic missile which according to foreign reports can support a nuclear payload.

In 2013,  media outlets reported that the Israeli Defense Ministry carried out a test launch of a rocket propulsion system as part of the development of the Jericho ballistic missile, speculating that the missile had a range of 4,000km. Israel has since been continuously trying to improve the system, both in terms of range and accuracy and it is now reported to have a range of over 10,000km

In 2015 during the testing of advanced version of the system the Ministry of Defense announced that one of the tests had failed and another had been called off at the last moment. The first use of the Arrow system occurred in April when the system was launched to intercept a Syrian regime air defense fired three surface-to-air missiles towards IAF jets.

Israel’s air defenses currently include the Iron Dome, designed to shoot down short-range rockets and the Arrow system which intercepts ballistic missiles outside of the Earth’s atmosphere. The David’s Sling missile defense system is designed to intercept tactical ballistic missiles, medium- to long-range rockets, as well as cruise missiles fired at ranges between 40 to 300km.

The advanced systems provide Israel will a comprehensive protective umbrella able to counter threats posed by both short and mid-range missiles used by terror groups in Gaza and Hezbollah as well as the threat posed by  more sophisticated long-range Iranian ballistic missiles.

Alongside the July 2015 Iran nuclear deal signed by world powers aimed to curb Tehran’s nuclear program, the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution that “called upon [Iran] not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches using such ballistic missile technology.”

Nonetheless Tehran has since carried out multiple ballistic missile tests and Amirali Hajizadeh, head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps airspace program, was quoted by the semi-official Fars News agency as saying that Iran would continue its ballistic missile program despite international criticism.

Israel and the United States remain concerned that Iran has continued to work on its nuclear program and last week the IRGC said that it had established a third underground ballistic missile production facility in southwestern Iran.

North Korea Fires Another Missile

North Korea fired an “unidentified projectile” early Monday morning, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement.

The projectile was fired from near Wonsan, Kangwon province.
The South Korean statement did not say where the projectile landed.
US officials are aware of the launch and “the president has been briefed,” a spokesman for the National Security Council said.
South Korean President Moon Jae-in was briefed and ordered a national security council meeting for 7:30 a.m. Monday local time (6.30 p.m. Sunday ET), the South Korean statement said.
North Korea has conducted a series of ballistic missile test firings recently.
